Today’s society encourages us to change our lifestyles and become more environmentally friendly. There are numerous theories and facts about global warming and one of those is to increase the use of renewable energy sources. There is unprecedented interest in renewable energy, especially solar and wind energy. Renewable energy sources provide electricity without giving rise to carbon dioxide emission (World Nuclear Association). It is impossible to convert to these sources completely, however there are things that we can do as individuals and as communities to be more environmentally friendly . As humans advance in technology, the amount of fossil fuels burned is increased at a rapid rate. This is an issue because with this increasing†¦show more content†¦It is projected that at the rate Americans are using hydro for energy that the â€Å"hydropower industry has the potential to create 1.4 million cumulative jobs by 2025† which would help since the unemployment percentage has been rising slowly (National Hydropower Association). Hydropower has also been a big contributor when it comes to making earth a healthier place to live on. Since the earth is composed of mostly water, hydropower is a very easy energy to obtain and water will always be there. It has become a vital source of energy in United States and is â€Å"account[ed] for 65.9 percent of all renewable energy generation in the United States† and is steadily rising (National Hydropower Association). Along with being the largest source of renewable energy, hydropower is very affordable and â€Å"since hydro taps the self-renewing power of our waterways, electricity from hydro is not subject to unpredictable price swings in the markets for energy commodities† which makes it very reliable (National Hydropower Association). It is important for a source of energy to be affordable and available because it will allow for that source to be used for an extended period of time.
